Architecture has allowed us to construct buildings that defy our vertical expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Today we are bringing you the world\u2019s 10 tallest buildings, all the way from Asia to North America.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h2><em><strong>Burj Khalifa, Dubai, UAE<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5721 size-full\" 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In first place on the list of the world&#8217;s tallest buildings is Dubai\u2019s pride and joy, Burj Khalifa.<\/p>\n<p>It stands at 828 meters high, almost 200 meters taller than the world\u2019s second-tallest building.<\/p>\n<p>Burj Khalifa is an office, residential, and hotel tower with 163 floors.<\/p>\n<p>The structure was completed in 2010 and has held its spot ever since.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>Shanghai Tower, Shanghai, China<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next on the list is the Shanghai Tower, 2015\u2019s tallest building, and the world\u2019s third tallest structure.<\/p>\n<p>The 128-floor office, hotel, and retail building are 632 meters high.<\/p>\n<p>The tower smoothly spirals upward, with a glass fa\u00e7ade exterior that holds within it nine cylindrical areas stacked on top of each other.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>Makkah Royal Clock Tower, Mecca, Saudi Arabia<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone tallest freestanding structure in the world are the Makkah Royal Clock Tower.<\/p>\n<p>It is home to a luxurious 5-star hotel operated by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.<\/p>\n<p>The building is 601 meters tall with 120 floors.<\/p>\n<p>The large clock found on the tower is 35 times larger than London\u2019s Big Ben.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>One World Trade Center, New York 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The One World Trade Center is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center.<\/p>\n<p>The tower stands at 541 meters and holds 94 floors.<\/p>\n<p>The gleaming building is the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.<\/p>\n<p>It is otherwise known as the\u00a0Freedom Tower, 1 World Trade Center,\u00a0One WTC\u00a0and\u00a01 WTC.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, Guangzhou, China<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5725 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Formerly known as the CTF Guangzhou Chow Tai Fook Centre, is the world\u2019s fifth tallest building, the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre.<\/p>\n<p>This impressive multi-use tower is 530 meters high with 111 floors.<\/p>\n<p>It includes in its premises 273-hotel rooms, 414 apartments, commercial offices, and an observatory.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>TAIPEI 101, Taipei, Taiwan<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5726 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>TAIPEI 101 was once the world\u2019s tallest building and remained so from 2004-2010 until Burj Khalifa claimed the spot.<\/p>\n<p>The tower comes with an elevator that goes from the 5<sup>th<\/sup> floor to the 87<sup>th<\/sup> in 49-53 seconds, the fastest in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Its 101 floors extend to 508 meters high and are designed to endure Taiwan\u2019s typhoon winds and earthquake tremors.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai, China<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" the world list is Shanghai World Financial Center at 492 meters high.<\/p>\n<p>The tower, which is 492 meters high, includes offices, hotels, conference rooms, observation decks, and ground-floor shopping malls.<\/p>\n<p>Park Hyatt Shanghai is located inside the soaring skyscraper, on the 79<sup>th<\/sup> to 93<sup>rd<\/sup> floors, making it the world\u2019s second highest hotel.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5728 sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yet another entry for Asia, as the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, claims 8<sup>th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n<p>This skyscraper appears to be a smooth rectangle standing at 482 meters high with 101 floors within it.<\/p>\n<p>Floors 102-108 are occupied by the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, making it the highest hotel in the world.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>Petronas Twin Tower 1 &amp; 2, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5729 size-full\" title=\"The world's 10 tallest buildings\" src=\"https:\/\/www.weetas.com\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/PT.jpg\" alt=\"Petronas Twin Tower 1 &amp; 2, Kuala Lumpur, https:\/\/www.weetas.com\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/PT-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tying for 9<sup>th<\/sup> place is Kuala Lumpur\u2019s Petronas Twin Towers 1 and 2.<\/p>\n<p>Both towers are approximately 452 meters high with 88 floors each.<\/p>\n<p>The twin skyscrapers were the tallest in the world from 1998-2004 and remain the tallest twin towers.<\/p>\n<p>The postmodern design is complemented by the tower\u2019s ability to withstand the wind and structural load.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>\n<h2><strong><em>Zifeng Tower, Nanjing, China<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5730 size-full\" title=\"The world's 10 tallest buildings\" 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another Chinese tower claims the last spot on this list, as the Zifeng Tower stands at 450 meters high with 66 floors.<\/p>\n<p>This skyscraper features retail and office space, the Nanjing Greenland InterContinental Hotel, restaurants, and an observatory.<\/p>\n<p>It is also known as Greenland Center-Zifeng Tower or Greenland Square Zifeng Tower and was
