Arabtec Construction, a wholly owned subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, has won the main contract to build the national pavilion for the Expo 2020 Dubai.
Awarded by National Media Council, the government entity responsible for building and operating the UAE Pavilion, the contract went to Arabtec after it emerged winner squaring off against three local and international companies in the final round with nine companies bidding initially.
The national pavilion is set to become one of the most important landmarks at the Expo 2020 Dubai. It will highlight the heritage, achievements, and values of the UAE. Moreover, the UAE pavilion will be the main platform at Expo 2020 Dubai. Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava will design the pavilion.
The UAE pavilion is located opposite Al Wasl Plaza in the center of the exhibition area. It spreads across an area of 15,000 square meters with a total built-up area of 19,200 square meters. Furthermore, the pavilion’s mezzanine floor will have an area of 662 square meters, while the upper floor covers an area of 2,000 square meters. Work is expected to begin this month and is due for completion towards the end of 2019.
Expo 2020 Dubai is the first mega-event of its kind in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region.
