The total value of investments made in the construction sector during the period from Jan to May 2017 was estimated at $2.3 billion, which is higher than the corresponding value of last year.
Bahrain’s minister of works, municipalities affairs, and urban planning “Essam bin Khalaf”, confirmed the hike saying that construction investment has visibally increased in the kingdom.
He attributed the rise to the new procedures implemented by the kingdom’s Comprehensive Municipial Center to fast-track the issuance of construction permits.
The issues can now be issued in 26 days, as reported by Bahrain News Agency.
It was revealed that non-oil sectors contributed to Bahrain’s overall economic growth of 3% in 2016.
