The Bahraini government has signed a construction contract with the Saudi Development Fund (SDF) to construct 1,265 housing units in Bahrain’s Al-Ramli housing project.
The contract, worth BHD56.7 million ($150 million), was awarded to Al-Mezeal Construction and Services, Luqman Al-Haddad Construction Company, Mohammed Saif Ajlan Al-Mannai, and Al-Nisr Construction Company.
The ministry had previously signed an agreement with SDF for the construction of 1,560 units in phase 1 of the Southern Town project. The agreement was worth BHD57.6 million ($152.8 million) and was part of the Gulf Development Plan.
“The projects feature on the Government Action Plan (GAP) to construct 25,000 units, in line with the royal order issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to provide 40,000 units,” a minister was quoted saying.
The signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance; Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulmalik Al-Sheikh, Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain; and SDF representatives.
Bassim bin Yacoub Al-Hamer, Bahrain’s Housing Minister, signed the agreements along with the constructions companies.
