Belhasa Six Construct, one of the subsidiaries of BESIX Group, the largest Belgium-based group specialized in construction, announced that it has won the infrastructure contract for the new Shindagha Bridge project in Dubai.
In his comment on the contract award announcement, Pierre Sironval, the managing director of Belhasa Six Construct expressed the company’s pride to be chosen to be a part of the mega project of Shindagha Corridor. Sironval added that the new bridge will be the third bridge that Belhasa Six Construct builds over Dubai Creek.
Shindagha Bridge is a $107m project that comes as a part of the major Shindagha Corridor project which has a total value that exceeds tha $1.3bn mark. It has a distinctive infinity sign-shaped design and it will span 295 meters and comprise six lanes in each direction.
The bridge will rise 15.5 meters above the water surface of Dubai Creek, allowing the boats to pass beneath it, while the top of the infinity arc will be 42 meters high. The construction of the bridge is planned to use around 2,400 tons of steel.
Earlier this year, Besix, along with the Spain-based Accion Agua, has been awarded a $237m contract for a new desalination planet by DEWA. The planet is situated in Jebel Ali, and is due for completion in 2020.
