Capital of Islamic Culture 2018 festival begins in Bahrain

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) officially launched the 10th edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival: Capital of Islamic Culture 2018 at the historical Arad Fort in Muharraq. The festival will run until August 18th. It is part of BACA’s efforts to deliver sustainable cultural seasons in Bahrain.

The opening ceremony of the festival was attended by BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa as well as a number of diplomats, cultural and media figures.

Shaikha Mai said in a statement that the festival is a great opportunity to spread joy from the city of Muharraq, the “Capital of Islamic Culture 2018”, and a chance to affirm the city’s deep-rooted cultural value.

The annual festival has become one of the most anticipated events throughout the region due to the exciting lineups of live shows and multi-cultural family-friendly entertainment. This year’s edition promises to be filled with various performances, artistic activities and creative workshops.

The festival is held in Nakhool Tent at the historical Arad Fort. It is open every day from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. except Sundays.
