Construction works start on Kuwait’s new passenger terminal

Kuwait - May 16, 2017

Construction works on Kuwait’s new passenger terminal started last week where an inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, and the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The project costs 4.27 billion dollars where the new terminal is expected to accommodate 25 million passengers per year as well as all aircraft types thanks to its 51 gates.

According to Abdulrahman al Mutawa, the Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works, the project can be expanded further to fit an additional 25 million passengers in the near future.

Al Mutawa also added that the airport will include solar panels that will be placed on the roof and are expected to power 10% of the terminal’s electricity consumption.
