Deira Islands to add 40 kilometers to Dubai’s coastline

Nakheel has signed a contract with “Van Oord”, international dredging and offshore contractor, in order to start preparing for the marine works in the project “Deira Islands” that extends on an area of 15.3 square kilometers and is considered the new waterfront of Dubai.

This two year contract involves  8.5 kilometers of new beaches, 3.5 kilometers of quay walls as well as 9.5 kilometers of rock edges and this is only for two of the four islands of Deira Islands.

The contract also includes the developing works of the southern facade of the southern island, which extends over an area of 4.5 million square meters in order to accommodate 500  yachts and boats of all kinds in addition to 2 km of breaker waves.

“Deira Islands” project will add approximately 40 kilometers to Dubai’s coastline, including 21 kilometers of beachfront.
