Douglas OHI, the joint Omani-British construction company, has been awarded a $5.3m contract by Gulf Hotels for the renovation of Crowne Plaza Muscat hotel, one of Gulf Hotels’ most famous properties.
In his comment on the award, Aaron Hennessy, the general manager of Douglas OHI explained that the company is focusing on giving back to the Omani community through the Crowne Plaza Muscat project as it has been in Oman since 1981. Hennessy added that Douglas OHI is also planning other similar initiatives within the current year.
The contract includes renovating the hotel’s lobby, entrance area, reception area, main restaurant, swimming pool and porte-cochere. The renovation works will start on 15 May 2018 and are planned to be completed by the end of August 2018, three months later. The hotel will be closed during these three months to facilitate the main construction works in it.
Situated on a cliff that overlooks the Gulf of Oman, Crowne Plaza Muscat is a seafront hotel that is 3 kilometers away from the Royal Opera House Muscat and 15 kilometers away from the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
