According to GlobalData, a leading international data and analytics company, Dubai tops the list of world’s mega-cities for construction projects with the total value of projects in pipeline amounting to $374.2 billion.
The list included a total of 6,645 planned and ongoing construction projects by the world’s mega-cities, with a total value of $4.2 trillion.
London came in the second place with $328.7 billion projects and Moscow came in third with $191.5 billion.
Even though it was not in the top three positions, Asia-Pacific region dominated the list, accounting for 25 of the 50 cities, with a combined projects pipeline valued at $1.7 trillion.
Yasmine Ghozzi, economist at GlobalData, says: “The ranking of Construction Mega Cities in the Gulf states shows they are spending the most on major development projects relative to the size of their populations. Dubai, for example, has a population of 3.2 million, but it holds the top position in terms of the value of the construction mega-projects pipeline per capita.”
