Development and Economic Affairs Council has ordered forming a commission of seven ministries and governmental authorities to study establishing two economic cities in the bound of King Abdul-Aziz and King Khaled airports in Jeddah and Riyadh.
The commission will run the economic feasibility studies of the two cities with Oliver Wyman. The study will focus on linking the economic city in Riyadh Airport with King Abdullah Economic City through many means, in addition to collecting enough data about the urban scheme of both cities and studying the current and future developmental projects in the cities.
The commission is headed by Adel Faqeh the Minister of Planning and Economics. It is membered by Tawfeeq Rabea the Minister of Industry and Commerce and Ahmed Oqail a board member in Development and Economic Affairs Board.
Abdul-Lateef Omran, Head of the General Authority for Investment said that economic cities offer world-standard economic environment; it attracts investments which help stirring up economy and developing cities. This contributes also in offering fantastic job opportunities for youth which helps in encouraging creativity and developing sectors.
