Expansion works on the 5.2 million dollars Wali Al Ahad highway have already started.
The highway will link the Riffa area to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway and Hamad Town in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Essam Bin Abdullah Khalaf, the Bahraini Minister of works, municipalities’ affairs and urban planning stated that the highway expansion project main aim to lessen the traffic congestion on the highway that witnesses a daily traffic volume of 73,000 vehicles.
The first phase will include the expansion to three lanes in each direction and the revamp all of the highway intersections as well.
That’s not all as the expansion project will also include the reconstruction of the highway infrastructure as well as the construction of pavements, implementing a storm water drainage network, lighting, signage and upgrading existing services.
