Saudi Housing Ministry decided to stop the housing project being under construction in Dammam.
Housing 2 project includes the establishment of 4,800 housing units which makes it one of the biggest residential projects in the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia.
The ministry sent official letters to the eight companies undertaking the project execution asking them not to start the execution process on the project that lies on Riyadh-Dammam-Qatif Highway.
The decision will hold great losses to both the companies and the housing beneficiaries who were expecting to receive the housing units in 24 months.
The ministry asked for a redesign in the project’s outline for the sake of raising the land’s utilization in order to serve more individuals, the redesigning process could delay the project delivery from six months to a year.
The ministry asked in its letters all development companies to provide new plans taking into consideration raising the percentage of constructed and built areas to cover up to 50 percent of the land.
The instructions included limiting the buildings’ height to seven floors only and increasing construction to have three a maximum of three apartments in each floor.
