The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract to build the Khawaneej Project and the Al Mushrif Park Improvement Project, which will cost about 500 million dirhams ($ 136 million).
The project involves the construction of three major intersections in Al Khawaneej and Al Amardi, part of several road and transportation projects approved by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and RTA Chairman, said: “The project aims to absorb the current and expected growth in the traffic over the coming years.”
The intersection of Al Amardi Street and Emirates Road will be improved through the construction of a flyover of two lanes in each direction crossing over Emirates Road in the direction of Al Awir. Additionally, a footbridge will be constructed on Al Khawaneej Street, near Arabian Centre.
“Twenty-three kilometers of service roads will be built along Khawaneej and Al Amardi, and three intersections will be developed with Algiers Street,” Al Tayer said.
