The index of Global Cities of the Future for Middle East and North Africa region 2015/2016 issued by FDI Intelligence Foundation related to Financial Times revealed that Bahrain comes fifth between 63 other countries included in the study in respect of economic activity.
The research which takes place every two years studies five substantial field of each economy which are: economic capabilities, environment compatibility to business, efficiency of human resources, efficiency in terms of cost, and communication.
Manama came in the top eight ranks in all studied fields. It came on top of the list for cost efficiency, and in the third place regarding the environment compatibility.
The report referred to the Economic Development Council role in polarizing foreign investments, helping investors to find the best opportunities, and post-launch assistance. The council was able according to the report to attract 190 direct foreign investments in the years between 2009 and 2014.
