Dubai based Nakheel has awarded contracts worth 2.3 billion dirhams for building three new shopping centers in the emirate, this new move comes as a part of Nakheel orientation to become the biggest mall operator in UAE.
The total shopping space of the three malls is 2.3 million square feet. The new malls will include 6,700 shops, cafes and restaurants. The projects are due completion in 2018.
The largest mall contract Deira Islands Night Souk worth 1.7 billion dirhams was awarded to United Engineering Construction. The mall will sprawl on 1.2 million square feet to include 5,300 shops in addition to 96 restaurants and cafes.
Nakheel awarded also a 775 million contract for building Warsan Souk to Ginco General Construction. The mall will be located in the new Warsan Village gated community which lies next to the international city.
Warsan Souk will contain 1,170 shops including 2 department stores besides 30 cafes and restaurants.
