Construction of the Dh1.2-billion ($326.71 million) Nakheel Mall at the heart of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, is now 85 percent complete.
According to the developer, all under and above ground floor and ceiling work on the retail and entertainment destination has been completed. Moreover, interior works, such as granite and glass fixing, is on track. A giant, 600-tonne tower crane has been removed from the construction site, marking a major milestone in the mall’s progress. In addition to that, the Nakheel Mall centerpiece, a 25-m-high crystal dome that will straddle the mall’s monorail station, is taking shape. Furthermore, fit-out of the 60,000-sq-ft, 15-theatre VOX Cinemas complex has begun and more retailers are due to start fitting out soon.
Part of Nakheel Malls’ Dh16-billion expansion that will increase total retail space to over 17 million sq ft, Nakheel Mall features 350 shops, restaurants and leisure attractions across five floors. It also includes three underground parking levels with 4,000 spaces. The mall boasts two fountains, two waterfalls plunging 65 ft into the mall and a fine dining roof plaza with views of the island, Arabian Gulf, and Dubai skyline.
Visitors to Nakheel Mall can access the 240-m ascent to the public viewing deck at The Palm Tower, which is Nakheel’s 52-story hotel and residential building. Featuring a 289-room St Regis hotel and 432 luxury apartments, The Palm Tower is home to one of the world’s highest infinity pools on the 50th floor. One floor above the pool is a restaurant complex, while the rooftop viewing deck, which offers views of the island, sea, and city, lies on the 52nd level.
