Neom City’s construction to begin in the first quarter of 2019

The Founding Board of the $500bn Neom City giga project, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, has accepted the master plan of Neom Bay, which will be the first area to be developed within Neom City.

By granting this approval, the founding board has also ordered to start the construction works of the futuristic city within the first quarter of 2019. The first phase of Neom Bay area is due for completion within the year 2020; it is expected that many facilities will be developed before the end of the current year, including upgrading Sharma Airport to be a commercial airport for flights between both Riyadh and Neom City.

In his comment on the giga project progress announcement, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, the CEO of Neom assured that the year 2019 will be a milestone in Neom City’s development plan.

Al-Nasr added that the development of Neom Bay will be based on multiple pillars: providing a quality lifestyle for the families living there, providing a quality experience for the visiting tourists, and supporting the innovation and creative centers which Neom City will house to help it fulfill its purpose.
