Dubai’s Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) has announced that two of its road improvement projects, Al Asayel and Al Yalayes roads, are now 85% complete.
In his comment on the progress announcement, Mattar Al Tayer, General Director and Chairman of Dubai’s RTA, explained that the two road projects are being developed with the purpose of facilitating the traffic flow between Sheikh Zayed Road on one end, and both Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road on the other, as well as easing the movement of goods coming to and from Jebel Ali Port.
The projects aim at boosting the capacity of Al Yalayes Road to be nearly 10,000 vehicles per hour, in addition to reducing the time between the 7th Interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road to be approximately 4 minutes. The projects’ planned completion date is the next September.
The ongoing improvement works on Al Yalayes Road comprises the construction of a four-lane bridge. On the other hand, construction works of the main bridges of the 7th interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road, as well as the first phase of the flyovers of Al Asayel, First Al Khalil and Al Yalayes roads, have been completed.
