Saleh Abdullah Al-Mahana, the Saudi Arabia-based contracting company, has been awarded a $30m contract by Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, the Bahraini minister for Works, Municipalities Affairs, and Urban Planning, to build a new hospital in Muharraq, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The new hospital, which is financed by Saudi Fund for Development, comes as a part of an agreement that was signed in 2014 between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It will also be a part of a fully integrated medical complex that will house a maternity hospital and a unit for the elderly in Muharraq.
The project will comprise 100 beds, an emergency waiting area, a section for brain paralysis treatment, and x-ray rooms. In addition to that, the hospital will include a laboratory, a pharmacy, and the administrative offices.
The construction of the hospital will take place over multiple phases, the first of which will be commenced in the third quarter of 2018 and will last for two years. As per the agreement, Saleh Abdullah Al-Mahana will handle constructing of the medical center, a central services building, external works, as well as the furniture, medical equipment, and electrical tools.
