Review of bids for 300 of Salman Town’s homes starts today

The Tender Board of the Kingdom of Bahrain has announced that the opening date for the bids submitted by contractors for building 300 new homes in Salman Town housing project will be opened today, December 27th 2018; the deadline for submitting the bids was yesterday, December 26th.

A six-month bond with the value of 5,000BD ($13,271) was requested to be provided in advance by the submitting bidders. The registered Bahrain-based contractors must be registered as Grade A contractors with the Bahraini Ministry of Housing or Grade AA contractors with the Bahraini Ministry of Works.

That being said, the Kuwaiti Grade A contractors who are registered with the Kuwait Central Tender Committee will be more preferred to win the contract; the project is funded by a grant made by the Kuwait Government through the Kuwait Fund for Arabic Economic Development.

It is worth mentioning that Salman Town, which spans 10 artifical islands off the Northern coastline of the island kingdom, is Bahrain’s biggest housing project to date; it will comprise more than 15,000 housing units that will accomodate up to 90,000 citizens. The second biggest project is Khalifa Town in the Southern Governorate, which will house 5,000 units.
