Saudi Arabia has officially launched the construction of Qiddiya Project. The project, which is Located southwest of Riyadh, is set to be one of the largest entertainment parks in the world.
The project was launched in a huge celebration with fireworks illuminating the sky of the Kingdom. It was attended by hundreds of guests from all around the world.
King Salman initiated the ground-breaking ceremony for the project when he put the last baton of the Qiddiya logo in place.
The king was accompanied by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chairman of the Public Investment Fund, who’s Vision 2030 is the reason this project exists.
At the grand celebration, the audience was shown a video featuring the wide range of tourist attractions in the project, including theme parks, motorsport tracks, sports facilities, and safari experiences.
Qiddiya project is one of many measures aimed at diversifying the oil based economy. With a total area of 334 square kilometers, it is planned to be the largest entertainment city in the world by 2030, surpassing the 110 square kilometer Walt Disney World in Florida.
