The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) announced the launch of the first tourist pearl diving trip in Bahrain from Ras Raya Port in the Muharraq Governorate.
Tourist pearl diving trips in the Kingdom of Bahrain can only be undertaken through licensed diving centers, BTEA emphasized. And the only starting point for these tourist trips is the Ras Raya Port in Muharraq.
The BTEA also stressed that, due to the importance of environmental protection, all pearl diving must be conducted according to regulatory procedures. Regulations allow divers to catch up to 60 oysters on each trip.
This contributes to the National Plan to revitalize the Pearl Industry, which was approved by the Government Executive Committee chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, and aims to protect the marine environment and support sustainable pearl diving activities.
The national plan to revive the pearl industry in Bahrain was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and the Government Executive Committee. The plan targets to protect the marine environment and strengthen the regulations around it.
