The number of hotel rooms under contract in the Middle East region reached 80,350 rooms rising by 42.8 percent in January compared to the same period of last year.
It’s worth mentioning that the under contract data includes rooms under construction, in final planning, or planning stages.
There are 538 hotels under contract in the Middle East including 151,771 rooms this month.
The total under contract rooms in the Middle East rose by 42.8 percent compared to January 2015, while number of rooms under construction rose by 50.4 percent.
The holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia reported the highest number of rooms under construction with 21,068 rooms distributed over 13 hotels.
Dubai reported 19,846 rooms in 63 hotels, Riyadh reported 6,738 rooms in 30 hotels, and Doha reported 5,980 rooms in 26 hotels.
