The Middle East region is witnessing 155,899 rooms under construction scattered around 552 projects, according to a report issued by the global hotel market data supplier STR.
Cities of Mecca and Dubai are leading the Middle East hotel construction activity with about 20,000 rooms in the pipeline to be delivered in the coming period.
The company’s report included projects still under construction or in the final stages, according to Arabian Business.
The total value of hotel projects under contract in the Middle East region rose by 18.8 percent this year compared to July 2015.
Moreover, the region has 83,194 rooms under construction scattered around 259 hotels which is 12.2% more than last year.
STR’s report stated that Mecca has 21,835 under construction in 13 different hotels, Dubai has 20,882 rooms in 67 hotels, Doha has 6,830 rooms in 30 hotels, and Riyadh has 6,657 rooms in 30 hotels.
