Arab News has reported, citing the Saudi ambassador in Bahrain, that work on the $4-billion King Hamad Causeway, which will connect Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, is set to kick off by mid-2021 and will be completed in three years.
The tender for the new causeway will be launched in six months. And the cost of the project is estimated to range between $3 and $4 billion.
The causeway will also include a rail line for passenger trains and cargo trains as well as a road for vehicle. It will act as a new link between the two GCC countries and will contribute to boosting trade in all fields.
Set to be 25 kilometers long, the new causeway is expected to reduce the traffic on the existing King Fahd Causeway which currently connects the Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
