Winter decor can transform your house into an icy winter wonderland, or into a toasty cozy haven, the choice is yours. And since people usually spend more time inside the house during the cold winter months, paying attention to winter decor makes perfect sense. So here are our recommendations for the best winter decor ideas. Get a nice looking heater If you are getting a heater to warm up your house this winter, do not opt for the basic looking industrial heater, go the extra mile and choose an elegant one that adds an elegant wintery touch to your home. Or better yet, get a fireplace, even one that’s only intended for decor would do, and make sure to decorate it generously with arrangements of candles and photo frames on the mantle. A heater or a fireplace adds an instant winter look, and a magnificent warm and cozy ambiance, that is why they make the best winter decor. Time for winter rugs Many people choose to take off their rugs during summer as removing them helps the house cool down easier. However, winter is the perfect time for rugs! So why not take the chance to add some winter decor, do not just put back your regular rugs, but add some extra warm and lush rugs that invite you to walk through the house in your socks. And maybe get some extra faux fur runners to add even more warmth to your space. Create a wintery centerpiece Looking for an extra wintery touch? Why not add a wintery centerpiece to your dining table or coffee table! The obvious choice would of course be pinecones, but there are endless other choices that would reflect winter. Adding any sort of wood or wood shavings to a glass bowl would work, especially if you infuse them with a couple of drops of essential oil to add fragrance. Also making a fruit display with red apples and cinnamon sticks would be an amazing idea for the kitchen table. Add some fur accessories Fur may not be as important during winter as it was during the Ice Age, however it still screams winter decor! The thing with fur though, especially fake fur, is that it can easily look too gaudy, so you have to be careful when choosing any fur accessories. Quality is the keyword here, if you get cheap faux fur it will probably look cheap, so opt for a small item with good quality. Throw pillows are a good place to add fur, and they work great for both the living room and the bedroom. Layer fabrics and colors Layering is one of winter staples, and not just in winter fashion! You can also add layered touches to your winter decor, mix and match throw pillows on your bed and on your sofa, and add some fluffy throws to the mix. Also adding a draping tablecloth under another embroidered one would make a great impact. Another good winter idea is to add slipcovers to chairs, slipcovered chairs add warmth and winter style to any dining room. Of course using winter colors and materials is essential here to achieve the look you are aiming for. Add touches of brass and wood When choosing an item, be it a piece of furniture or an accessory, opt for brass instead of chrome and for natural wood instead of stained wood. Both materials add warmth and a wintery look to your house. Adding white and green touches, either in fabrics or in the form of green plants, make these materials stand out even more. Follow your inspiration Do whatever feels right to you and do not be afraid of experimenting. Will layering all these pillows look too much? Not if you like it! There are no rules for decorating, well there are some but most of them are breakable. The unbreakable rule is that you have to love your house. So choose whatever winter decor make you feel warm and cozy in your own house.
