First of all, what Does Al Hidd mean? Hidd in the Arabic language means a lengthy land of sand extended in the water. It is located in the south-eastern tip of the island of Muharraq in the northeast of the Kingdom of Bahrain with an area of 15 Square kilometers. Al Hidd is one of the oldest areas in Bahrain, before the oil boom, Al Hidd citizens used to work in fishing and pearl diving. Many of the old neighborhoods still exist in Al Hidd adding an air of beauty and culture to the area. Al Hidd area is the second city on Al-Muharraq Island after Al-Mahraq City, located at the south-eastern end of the island, and was a rectangular ground tongue before sea burials extending north-south into the sea, with a street that is divided to the eastern and western borders. There are intersecting narrow roads leading to the city’s beach, the east coast and the west coast. It is one of the most important areas of pearl production and extraction, being a marine town where diving ships were a stop to Pearl Herat. In its past, the boundary has been exposed to extensive flooding as it has low ground from the sea because of the sea-water invasion during tides. One of the best new projects, combining business, shopping, and entertainment services, the Avenue complex, has been completed and the building has been built with a consumer-friendly design, making it a good destination for visitors to either shopping, entertainment, or business services. New projects in Al Hidd area The city is now witnessing a huge urban leap as well as the cities in Bahrain lately. Currently, the project includes 483 housing units financed by the GCC Development Fund in East Hidd of a total of 45000 unit. The project consists of three phases:- 1- Phase one 1500 housing unit. 2- Phase two 1000 housing units. 3- Phase three 1500 housing units. And 500 housing units for Al Hidd citizens and it is estimated that the entire project will be complete within seven to eight years. The housing ministry has floated a tender for the construction of phase one of the project. The anticipated population will be 28,000 and the project will include lifelike services from shopping malls, schools, mosques, public parks, and plazas. It is also worth mentioning that cooperation with the private sector will help greatly in fastening the completion process of all the delayed real estate projects and reaching a high level of productivity. The kingdom of Bahrain got 169.7 million BHD from the investment bank to help with these projects and meet the housing requests. New properties are being built in Al Hidd area every day, the city is growing and developing beautifully. Attractions near Al Hidd area One of the top attractions in Al Hidd is Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Park, which is a community park with serene lush green spaces and a stunning view of the sea. The park houses kids’ playgrounds, many restaurants, and cafes as well as a boating facility in the pond that lies in the middle of the park. Diyar Al Muharraq with all that it has to offer is also nearby, the development is connect to Muharraq Island, where Al Hidd area lies, with a causeway.
