Manama was chosen as the capital of Arab culture in 2012 and the first capital of Arab youth in 2015. That is no coincidence, as Bahrain has laid down a development strategy and fortified its efforts and resources, determined to transform the country into one of the most prosperous and developed in the world.

Bait Al Qur’an

Bait Al Qur’an is one of the most famous Islamic museums in the world, it was established in Manama in 1990. It is a multi-complex that holds the Qur’an as well as Islamic Art.

Bait Al Qur’an is considered an Islamic cultural center where scholars and researchers flock. This has made it a leading cultural institution that retains an independent identity, with the objective and purpose of serving the holy book of God. It also houses a valuable collection of rare handwritten Quranic manuscripts, in addition to a mosque, library, meeting hall, and a school.

 

Rashid Al Oraifi Museum

Before being turned into a museum, this was previously Rashid Al Oraifi’s family’s private home. He is considered one of Bahrain’s most prominent artists.

The museum holds a wide selection of Oraifi’s work that is inspired by the culture and history of the Dilmun civilization, while also reflecting Bahrain’s heritage.

 

Arad Fort

Arad Fort was built in the 15th century with an authentic Arabic style. Like other forts in Bahrain,  it is characterized by a design that reflects the history and culture of the country.

The castle that stands tall near Bahrain International Airport has been renovated and refurbished. At night, it lights up to give the city a spectacular scene.

The mysterious fort has many kept secrets, as there is very little known about its history, and there is no conclusive evidence on the exact date of its establishment.

 

Bab Al Bahrain

The ‘Gate of Bahrain’ is located in Manama’s central business district and is the main entrance for Manama Souq. The gate was built in 1940 by the British and renovated in 1986 to showcase its Islamic architecture. It now houses government offices.

Bahrain City Center is the first promotional and shopping destination in the Kingdom, located in the heart of Manama. The Center consists of a massive commercial complex featuring more than 350 shops, two 5 and 4-star hotel, and the largest cinema complex in Bahrain.

It also includes the first indoor water park in the region, over an area of 15 thousand feet, a restaurant corner, and an entertainment center for children and youth. In addition to more than 50 restaurants and cafes which to provide international cuisines

Manama Souq is a historical center and a charming part of Manama, with a distinct character of its own. The journey through the Souq starts at Bab Al Bahrain, which is thought to be the entrance to the marketplace that was constructed in 1949. The narrow alleys of Manama Souq hold within them a myriad of modern and traditional shops.

Considered the first gold souq in Bahrain, this marketplace is known for its high quality jewels (18 and 21 carats) and sparkling Bahraini pearls that glimmer throughout the shops.

Riwaq Art Exhibition aims to provide joint exhibitions between Bahraini and international artists, in order to exchange experiences and to develop different works of art. The exhibition focuses on the unique architecture of the Al Adliya and its surroundings.

Through art collaborations, workshops, musical evenings and film screenings, the area comes alive with a cultural vibe. The exhibition also includes active platforms that link mutual expertise with open dialogue, allowing for creative rejuvenation and the adoption of new concepts for contemporary identities.

 

Al fateh Castle

One of the extremely significant sights in Bahrain. Standing tall, the fortress signifies the profound history of Bahrain and its authenticity. Salman bin Ahmed Al Fateh Castle, or as known as “Al Riffa Castle” lies in East Riffa.

It lies in a real vantage point overlooking a wide valley stretching between old Riffa and West Riffa.

The fortress was built in the 11th Hijri century and was renovated during the period between 1812 and 1818 to be a well-defended site for safe residence. It features artistic panels, embossed calligraphy boasting Quran verses, and 3 main halls composing its main structure.

 

Seef Mall

The biggest shopping mall and the most popular in Bahrain, it’s considered a touristic destination that contributes in spurring commercial and tourism activity in the whole area of Seef.

The mall incorporates has a big number of stores displaying the most famous fashion brands along with a number of international restaurants and a cinema complex of 16 halls.

The mall witnessed a massive renovation process in 2011, increasing its size to hold more retail shops, restaurants, cafes, etc.

 

Bahrain International Circuit

An integral project that has turned to be a popular tourism destination drawing visitors from all areas around the world.

The circuit was established in 2004 and started hosting races in the same year. It has a great role in reviving the commercial activity in the whole surrounding area where hundreds of auto lovers flock annually to watch the F1 race.

The circuit hosts also different touristic events including races, markets, ceremonies, and many other.

The facility had a hand in the establishment of many hotels around Zallaq to occupy the rising number of tourists, it also spurred commercial activity and encouraged many investors to build new entertainment venues.
